There are many different variations of the pool games, resulting in many different billiards rules. The rules of the pool games would be determined by the variation of the pool game that is being played.
One particular and very popular variation of pool games is commonly referred to as pocket billiards. There are also many different variations of pocket billiards, once again resulting in different billiards rules determined by the variation of pocket billiards enjoyed by the players.
The most popular specific variation of the pool games in America is known as ‘Eight Ball’. The pool game is played on a pool table with six pockets and 16 balls are used in play. The balls are each numbered, one through fifteen, with the exception of the cue ball which is generally a solid white ball. Fourteen of the balls are brightly colored, with two balls consisting of each of the colors of green, blue, yellow, red, purple, orange, brown. One of each of the two same colored balls is striped, while the other is solid in color which determines each players own balls for the game. There is only one solid white ball, which is the cue ball used to strike the balls in play, and there is only one black ball-the eight ball. Simply stated, the general rules of this game require that each player, or team of players, use their cue stick to strike the cue ball in an attempt to force it to strike their balls and sink them into the pockets located on the corners or sides of the billiards table. The player continues to run the table until they fail to strike or pocket one or more of their balls, then the opposing player will take their turn with play alternating in like fashion throughout the course of the game. When all of one of the player’s balls has been pocketed, the player will have the opportunity to sink the eight ball and perhaps win the game.
Within this popular version of the available pool games, there are still some variations of the game, once again resulting in different billiards rules according to the variation of play. One such variant of the eight ball game is referred to as ‘last pocket eight ball’. The different billiard rules that apply to this game and not the standard eight ball game include the fact that the player who is attempting to pocket the eight ball to win the game must sink the eight ball into the same pocket as their last object, or brightly colored, ball. These pool games can be played on the Internet, thanks to the available pool internet games, or in a physical location.
